Since 1911 The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been home to what is considered to be the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing”, the Indy 500.  The facility is the largest spectator sports facility in the world with over 250,000 permanent seats.  It is the only racecourse to host the Indy Racing League, NASCAR and Formula One.  Additionally it is the only racecourse in the United States to run a Formula One race, the United States' Grand Prix.

The Speedway sits on 1,025 acres that holds the main track, the Administration Building, the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, Brickyard Crossing Golf Resort and Inn, as well as several parking areas. Within the oval is a museum dedicated to the history and achievements of the Speedway with over 70 cars on display at all times.  There are also coach tours of the Speedway, where the tour bus will take fans around the oval, stopping at key places to explain important history or facts.

A new and exciting development within the oval is the opportunity to drive an actual Indy 500 racecar. All of the cars have raced around the oval and are now available May thru August to tempt Indy 500 fans. Previously, fans were able to sit in the passenger seat while a veteran Indy 500 driver took them around the track at speeds approaching 180 mph. Now, the experience is yours alone. Sit in the driver’s seat for four laps and follow an experienced driver around the track.
